Marta is an abstract emerging artist who, as part of a self-reflection process, discovered painting as a form to express her authentic self.

Currently located in Zürich, Switzerland, she has an engineering background. In contrast to engineering, which is objective, guided and empirical, she finds in painting the balance in life: subjectivity, no rules, and self-expression. She started painting in 2022 in search of responses to her feelings triggered by the challenges she faces as an expat woman in her 30s: fitting in a new country, relationship strains, gender norms.

Her work is impacted by the use of a bold colour palette in multiple layers, which brings her closer to her roots. Together with composition, Marta’s artworks create an illusion of movement and dynamism.
